Behind the Scenes Update

We cannot thank you enough for your prayer and support as Cornerstone Restoration comes to full fruition. It is evident that the need for care, one nail, and one conversation at a time, is great across our city, and your heart to serve in this capacity is undeniable.

We wanted to give you a quick update on volunteer opportunities.

To best position Cornerstone to serve a much larger group of families, we have put a short-term hold on accepting new projects for the next several months as we firm up several core areas.

Pure and simple, we are working behind the scenes on two critical projects:

-The shoring up of technology infrastructure

-The hiring of two additional staff members (an administrator and a project manager).

Our goal is to quickly position ourselves to have multiple teams serving on the same day on multiple project sites across the city, and in order to do this, we must first focus on foundation.

We understand that this hold will limit the number of volunteer opportunities in the short-term, but we also know this will allow the ministry to thrive all the more moving forward.

As we ramp up our technology and hiring, we do ask that you please consider coming alongside us financially at this critical juncture. Know that your financial support will be a huge help in reaching more and more people going through difficult seasons!

Although we are not currently taking on new projects, we are continuing forward with several ongoing projects.

Below are a few examples of huge hearts stepping-up in extraordinary ways. Due to the request of the individuals and the businesses, there are no names mentioned below. We hope these stories encourage you!

It was brought to Cornerstone Restoration’s attention that a retired couple that serves with Foster Village was scammed by a fictitious roofing company.  Sadly, this couple did pay all money up front only to find out that the roofing company never returned.  After hearing about this unacceptable situation, we had a team step up and in three days the roof job was completed. This was amazing, to say the least.  Tears of joy were flowing from the homeowner’s eyes, and words of praise and gratitude from their hearts.

This was not accomplished once, but twice.

The following week another roofing situation was brought to attention on the eastside of Austin.  Once again, in three days we resolved the situation, and the project was completed.

Both projects were completed at no cost to the recipients.

In addition to these projects, an irrigation company has approached Cornerstone to provide a complete repair that included trench digging, new pipes, new valves, new fittings and, most importantly, a very happy homeowner. This recipient, a widow, who had not experienced warm water in many months, marveled at the pressure later as she enjoyed her shower.  Her words thereafter… “I felt like I was staying at the Hilton Hotel when I was taking that shower.” These moments of gratitude are why we keep driving forward, while always keeping Jesus front and center.

In closing, a reminder of our work and mission can be found here in Hebrews 13:16...

“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”

Please do not hesitate to continue to bring to our attention those who are in need, simply by filling out a short form on our volunteer page (or clicking here).

Paul V. Rudzitis, Executive Director
